About: PCut.net - Park City, Utah
MISSON: The goal of this web site is to promote independent web development in Park City, Utah.
Welcome to pcut.net. This is an open directory for Park City, Utah. The goal of this siteis to support independent web development. The site invites people from Park City and Summit County to add their links. (Please don't add a link unless you are either from Park City, or have a Park City specific site.
PCut.net is part of the Community Color project. The goal of the initial project was to promote local web development and community awareness in select towns in the Mountain West. In 2017, I decided to change the focus from towns to counties. The site Summit Color covers all of Summit County which stretches from Parleys Summit to the Wyoming Border.
The main features of the site are an open directory and calendar. The directory is split into categories. Simply navigate to the correct category and add your link. Adding a link brings direct traffic through pcut.net, and indirect traffic by improving your position in the search engines.
You can also add events to the calendar. The calendar is indexed regularly by search engines so it brings a good deal of free exposure to your community event.
About the Site
This site was developed by Kevin Delaney (an unemployed bum living in Salt Lake). The site uses PHP/SQLite3 as the back end. The site belongs more in that mysterious realm of hobby sites than as a big serious business.
Paying for the Site
The site has a small number of clearly marked sponsors. Links to sponsors have the word "sponsor" next the link, or use a graphical ad. (such as the BackCountryStore.com ad to the right). Most of the sponsors simply pay a commission on sales.
