The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) is one of the largest and most active fraternal organizations in the US. The Elks have over 2100 lodges in the U.S. and claim over 1 million members.

The Elks began as a drinking / social club in New York City to avoid regulations on bars. Today, the organization is noted for its charitable contributions and community service. You will often find elk members donating time and effort to people in need. The Elks have a fondness for constructing and maintaining grand buildings and residences in towns throughout the US.
